The load that is placed on the CPU and GPU can vary quite a bit depending on the games/apps you run. The CPU has to produce the frames and the GPU has to render the frames. When I am in the market for a new GPU because it may be faltering a bit, I normally buy the best card I can find within my budget. I don't really even worry about a bottleneck because I will more than likely use this same card when I decide to get a new CPU.
