Team Fortress2 validating error

When i try to launch Team Forstress 2,it will just begin "validating steam files" but when it hits 100% nothing happends. I have tried waiting up to 20 min. but it does nothing and just sits at 100%. Please help.I am running windows Vista.

Might try shutting down Steam and deleting appupdatestats.blob. See if that helps...
