Heir Bugged

I think the heir succession is bugged. My current Succession Law is Agnatic Primogeniture which means my oldest living male son should be the heir. Well my first born son was a moron with really poor stats while my second born son I thought would make a respectable ruler so I sent someone around at midnight and succesfully assasinated my first born but now my heir is not my second son but my grandson? Shouldn't it be my second son? My involvement in the assassination was not discovered.

Apparently it'll go to the first son's kid if he has one. Odd and not really explained but that's what it does.

Which Succession Law is it that the crown will go to the next son and not the grandson?
