on launch the game crashes, no amount of re-installations of verifying fixes it. I tried using steam support but the automated responses were unhelpful, from what I can tell this has only been affecting ATI users.
Has anyone found a fix for this extremely frustrating issue?

I found that rolling back to Catalyst 11.11 fixed the issue for me. I had 12.3 installed and that caused the problem for me. I can't comment on other driver versions between 11.11 and 12.3 working or not. I reported my findings to both Valve and AMD.
Hope this helps. |

I'm having a crash but everytime I verify integrity of game cache it downloads a 18.5 mb file.
I'm gonna try that fix Dr. starting with 12.2 then going back until that one. Pain in the ♥♥♥ but meeh |

Well, it has nothing to do with drivers. In my case it has to do with the amd catalyst application profiles. It starts crashing with application profile 12.2 cap1 and later. The latest one that doesn't make it crash is 12.1 cap 3. Search it on guru3d if you want to install it. I'm using the latest drivers.

Catalyst 12.3 and the 12.1 cap 3 profiles work for me.
It could be an issue with the 64-bit version but the Catalyst Install Manager I have installed (v03.00.0868) didn't show anything regarding application profiles and the VISION Engine Control Center has no profiles listed at all. After discovering this I decided to grab the 12.1 cap 3 installer from AMD's servers (direct link) and install that over the top of whatever was already there. It seems to have fixed the problem. |
