During the first chapter the only view I can get is looking down and constantly rotating. When I move mouse, the direction of view changes, but shortly comes back to down and rotation. For the long time using this mouse there were no issues with it in any game or application.

Edit: I got this figured out. I went to controller settings, it happend to be enabled, I disabled it and the bug with mouse disappeared! Yay!

Dear Esther makes my PC power off. If I start it with SLI 64x CSAA Setting enabled in Nvidia CP it loads for a second or two and then the PC is powered of miraculously.

System specs:

Core i7 2700k
Gigabyte X68XP-UD4 Mainboard
16 Gig G.Skill F3-14900CL9-4GBSR (4 Modules)
Geforce 480 GTX SLI (driver 296.10).
Windows 7 Professional x64
PSU 750 Watt Be!Quiet

The system works stable on all other games I played on it during the last months, so I guess it is a Dear Esther bug. The maximum I was able to get working with Dear Esther is 16xQ CSAA. SLI 64x CSAA works fine on other source games.

There is bug with Nvidia 3D Vision. I doubt it will be fixed but maybe this is my lucky day.

The water shader in level 3 and 4 is not working correctly. I can´t see anything under water in level 3 and in level 4 the reflections on the beach are faulty.

Also the grapics are stretched a bit on the side, but this can be corrected with the convergence option of 3D Vision.

There is a bug that the player may be trapped after the wooden shipwreck, but before the entrance of the cave ( where the painful singing is heard and the protagonist tells about breaking his leg, and having an infection in it.

I You climb to the rocks left to the entrance coming from the ship You climb a bit up. However if You climb down toards the entrance You may fall between two rocks and may now move in any direction anymore.

Thanks to the latest patch the texture problem is gone.

Optionen->Audio: "Alle" should probably be "Untertitel" (though I've no idea how this difference could occure)
Optionen->Tastatur/Maus->Tastenbelegung ändern: &Bearbeiten -> Bearbeiten

P.S.: Is it intended that some menu entries are fully capitalized, while others follow the standard rules? (like: AUDIO, VIDEO, TASTATUR/MAUS, Controller)

I got stuck on some rocks at the blocked end of the pier where the paper boats are in the water. I could not move and was forced to restart.

This is fixed in the german community translation pack

I seem to have several problems. Yesterday, after the first cave, I tried to go back the way I came and just got stuck between the boulders right about when you jump down.
The second is today. I finished the first two chapters last night but the game will not let me start on the third chapter today. Each time it wants me to go all the way back to the beginning. This makes the game very boring.
Anything I can do? Besides get bored?

Another question. Can you save game so you don't have to start from the beginning every time you start the game? It is getting very frustrating. My character keeps getting stuck in places and I have to start from the very beginning. Not good!

You can add custom binding to them yourself in the options>keyboard menu

If you could give me some info as to why the third chapter wont load, that would be useful!

if you want to start the first chapter manually, open the console with the tilde key (key next to 1) and type in: map esther

or alternatively, to unlock all chapters, type: ui_lastmapplayed 4

Excuse me whilst I blush. The third chapter,...well...I wasn't there yet, even though with the time I had spent on the game I should have been. That is why I couldn't get it to load. So far I have spent 2 hours on the game and haven't finished the first chapter. Last nite my character got stuck on the side of a boat ramp, after the long candle path, and I could not get him free(see Stringer's post above..same place). Another long amount of time wasted. The game is very beautiful and 'narration' is interesting but at this point I have lost interest in what it all means because I can't get past the first chapter without some bug messing me up.
The save and load keys might help and I will give it a try the next time I have some time to waste.

...I just played the game for another 45 minutes. Avoided the areas that get me stuck... tried to save with F5 and reload with F8, nothing. Apparently this option is not in the game I downloaded. I am going around in circles now at the paper boats and the boat ramp trying to find the next path. Maybe there isn't one?
I'd like to finish the game but it just isn't letting me do it. Is there something wrong with my download or is this the way it is supposed to be?

I'm having stutter issues right at the start of the game, when your character starts to narrate and it sorts of stutter. Odd thing that I have not experienced this stuttering issue for the rest of the game.

Just the beginning and walking into the abandoned house induces it.

Edit: Just discovered that other levels have the same issue, when there is speech it will stutter.

A follow up to my earlier post. I was finally able to finish the game (yay!) and found another little glitch. At section where the paper boats are in the water and the 'boat ramp' there is a set of stairs leading up the hillside. It is at the base of these stairs where another glitch is located. I think the coded window for character entry is too small because the first few times I tried to go up these stairs it would not let me, which is why I thought it was not an option. This last time I tried moving laterally back and forth until I found the 'sweet spot' that allowed me up the stairs.
Once I finished the game I had time to assess the game and found it intriguing and thought provoking. Overall it was the quality of a good novel that one might be proud to have on the bookshelf.

Also in the area with the paper boats, if you get off the ramp leading into the water (on the right side), you fall and get stuck in geometry. The only way to get out is to use console commands or reload.

just stumbled about a thing : i wanted (in the 1st chapter) to get to the ship wreckage by using the swim up button with forward witch worked well for some time....then i was sucked under water, heard "come back" and now i´m back where i was but cannot move one inch....is this supposed to be that way ?
