Is this a metroidvania title?

I can't really tell from the screenshots alone. Does this game play similarly to the Metroid and later Castlevania series by any chance? Do you explore an open world with new paths opening up as you collect additional abilities?

It's not even a little like a Castlevania title. It's more of a super-atmospheric adventure game with only the simplest of puzzles. It's better than it sounds though!

Ok, thanks. I just asked because the game's description mentioned, adventuring, exploration, and combat which are all metroidvania elements

Nothing like it. This game is a point and click adventure game.
