bots for vanilla quake

Any way I can play with bots on quake 1 without using a modernized client like nquake? I already tried reaperbot but apparently it's not steam compatible. idk.

It is Steam compatible. I tried it a few weeks ago.
You should have the mod directory in Steam\steamapps\common\quake.
Then launch the game with the command line '-game rpbot'(or whatever the name of the directory is). When ingame, Multiplayer>New game and use the mod commands to add bots ('b' to add one bot, 'c' to add four, see readme file for more details).

I see the problem, I didn't run it with the command line parameters. I'm gonna re-try this tomorrow.

Thanks.
