Holy CRA* it supports Wheels!!
Un-freaking-believable a 10 dollar game that actually works with my MOMO wheel!
And to think I had to do all kinds of tweaking in Blur to even get my wheel to work (took almost 2 hours) and in less than 10 minutes, I had my MOMO wheel working in Smash Cars with all the games functions! Now, to be fair, I had to use the Logitech Profiler to swap the gas and brake pedals, and I ended up assigning all the buttons and the paddles on my wheel to keyboard buttons, but it works! Surprisingly, the game supports wheels AND you can still use keyboard keys even with the wheel enabled. Truly, the best of both worlds! The game doesn't allow for "custom" key binds, but does have several keyboard, ps3 type gamepad, and wheel layouts to choose from. Didn't like the way any of the buttons were laid out for my wheel so I just used the Logitech Profiler software to assign the various functions (roll, jump, boost, etc..) to keyboard keys and the game actually accepts BOTH input from my wheel and keyboard. Of course, there is no force-feedback, but I can live with that. Arcade or Sim, I just can not play a racing/driving game without the use of my trusty wheel. Just in case anyone else may be looking at this and has read all the reports about the sloppy (or non-existent) Xbox 360 pad support, using a wheel may just be a decent alternative if you have one. Here is what pushed my buying decision, which refers to "wheel support" http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...3&postcount=56 Now, if only that guy was still around, maybe the proper Xbox 360 pad support will finally make it's way into this game. I am still around.
![]() Latest news on the patch are in the mentioned thread. BTW, the new configuration tool will also affect wheels, so you will have to reassign buttons/pedals/axes. |
