Looking to buy new graphics card / CPU

I want to try and upgrade my computer But I'm not sure what to buy.

My computer specs are:

Ati Radeon HD 5770 1024MB

8GB DDR3 memory

1TB harddrive (looking to upgrade this aswell.)

Im not sure how many Watts my power supply can handle so I might need upgrade that aswell.

My budget is around $400

That CPU will still get the job done, so no need to upgrade that. On the GPU side, a HD7850/7870 would be a nice step up....the HD7870 can perform pass a GTX580 when OCed moderately. If you prefer nV, look at nothing less than 2gb or higher versions of the GTX560 Ti (384cores, or better yet, the 448core version) and higher models. If you can wait, wait for the GTX660/670 from nV to be released, if nothing else, they should force a price adjustment from AMD's HD7870/7850. With the GTX680 release, price of the HD7970 has dropped, in fact, some models are cheaper than te GTX680.....

thanks for the answers, Ill wait and see if the prices drop.


Also is it a good time to buy hard drives? I remember them going up because of floods in tawian.

The hard drives are still a bit pricey. They probably won't ever go back down to what they were before, though.

Maybe a little overclocking will hold you over for a while. As far as a GPU, it depends on what your interests are. Gaming?: what resolution? etc.
