Game is unplayable

I can't complete the first level in the game because the 'drill' command just seems to make the robot run. The game fails to recognize my generic USB Dell keyboard when I try to re-map the controls. It literally does not accept any input, and I am stuck with the default controls.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I looked at the keybindings and tried pressing every key on my keyboard and nothing seems to work. Given the complete lack of tutorial telling me otherwise, I can only assume something is wrong with the game.

Additionally, when I try to change the resolution the screen graphics become corrupted.

My specs are HD 6850 / Win7 x64 / Phenom II X6, current drivers. Game cache integrity check passes. Searching these forums doesn't seem to find anyone else with the same problem.

Its a good thing I got this in the Humble Bundle awhile back, because I'd feel a bit disappointed. Its not as if I have some weird keyboard that has compatibility issues, and I shouldn't have to buy a gamepad to play this game. If there is some failure on MY part here (aka 'I'm doing it wrong'), it would seem the onus is on the devs because I am not an inexperienced gamer and I tried pressing every button on my keyboard with no luck and no tutorial telling me what I should have done.

The drill isn't available at the beginning of the game!

Well, it took me awhile to find out that you can hit blocks with your head. Nothing in the game told me this, I had to rewatch a trailer on the store page (which isn't exactly HOW I should be learning about said function). Otherwise I seemed completely stuck in that initial room.

This doesn't happen to a lot of people I guess, but I guess I'm just one of those few. xP

Played a few levels now... default controls are still unmappable and absolutely terrible. IMO, tab for puzzle, Q-E for block type choice, drill on Ctrl makes infinitely more sense.

There is some dialogue as part of the story/conversation right at the beginning of the game that tells you about hitting blocks with your head. Possible you just skipped it??

About the controls, yes the default keyboard configuration is not optimal, although I had no problems changing keys with my keyboard (Logitech). It is possible there could be some compatibility issue. Maybe test with another keyboard? I ended up playing with a gamepad anyhow and this is the type of game I would definitely recommend using one.

I never played this game with a keyboard. Using an xbox 360 controller for windows is a breeze and extremely responsive in this game.
Anyone playing games on steam on a regular basis should have one of these controllers. They are a must!
