Not enough gun parts in TOV

I experienced the save game problem and had the file replaced by Hothead. No problem with that, they resolved my problem wonderfully. But since then I've had only 6 gun parts (needed for the North Pole expedition) in my inventory, while there's 25 needed. And no new parts to be found in the catacombs of the Sanctuary.
Has anyone any idea if this could be related to the replaced file? I'm almost done playing, every unimportant quest done, but I'm stuck now. I'd hate to start all over again.
