Can i run Garry's Mod with only Left 4 Dead 2?

I want to download Garry's mod but i dont have HL2 or CSS game. Can i run it with Left 4 Dead 2?

Well. I have L4D,L4D2 and Team Fortress

I doubt it, but even if it works, you will have next to no stuff for gmod, you wont be able to doanything

You should download tf2 its free.

You will still be missing about 75-80% of the actual content: maps, textures, models, animations and sounds. TF2 is cute, but it's not the bulk of Gmod. Counterstrike Source and HL2 are.

You can BUY Gmod with just L4d/2, but they are NOT (still) properly working with Gmod's source version. Hopefully with Gmod 13 that will be fixed, but it still won't give you nearly enough of the commonly-used Gmod resources.

You realize that Valve isn't going to let that happen, y'know, because they're still SELLING Counterstrike Source and their other games. The POINT is that you have to have them in order to use their resources. Period.

Dammit. well now that i know that, that kinda jaratees me. Just hope getting Portal and/or portal 2 will fix that. It's starting to ball me that without games that you need, you can't get perfect textures on some custom ragdolls. (ex. the MLP pack)

If there really is no other way even after getting portal and/or portal 2, Might as well get HL2 Ep. 2. probably not gonna play it though. (unless... someone is nice enough to create a version of that pack for those who have nothing but TF2, but don't wanna get CS:S or HL2 just for perfect textures. I doubt it though as i assume i'm probably the only guy with this problem)

You should get The Orange Box. You'll get most of the content you need for GMod. Plus, the Half-Life games are really cool.

You already get all of the HL2 stuff apart from maps and stuff if you only get CSS. CSS has the most stuff, and is generally the base for a lot of GMOD stuff, especially addons.

No, it doesn't. You'll be missing a lot of textures if you try to play G-Mod without having Half-Life 2 or Counter-Strike: Source installed.

^^ this. Gmod is a sandbox game, not a stand-alone Source game. Anything you want in the game, you MUST have on your drive AND legally on that steam account. Plain and simple, it comes with nothing but code to organize your resources. It does not come with the resources.
