Clicking hard drive
My friend asked me if i can help retrieve information off a clicking hard drive that doesn't boot and is unseen by USB device. Anyone have any tricks that may possibly work? I know there is a 90% failure rate to fixing this but hey what do i have to loose?
Thanks! |

What kind of data is on it?
If it's important irreplaceable files/data, then I'd try >here< If it's stuff you can just re-download, then just save your money and get new drive(s) and re-download your files again. How old is the drive (usually says the manufacture date on the drive sticker) and what brand/model is it? |

Try moving the drive as it's clicking. Give it a Fonzi punch as you turn it upside down and back again saying "Aaaay!" simultaneously.

Or better yet, don't try to power it up anymore if you do in fact wish to get data off of it. You might make the arm touch the platter, which will cause physical damage, ensuring further data loss.
