Activated a gift on the wrong Steam account
Have any of you ever heard of situations where Steam support have allowed someone to remove one of their games so it can be activated on another account?

I've read of such situations. Steam Support can maybe solve this for you. It helps when you ask nicely and you did not play the game on the wrong account.

I've downloaded the game but I won't even load it up for the first time now. Thanks.

They 'might' do it but it's unlikely.
You can always ask but the SSA position is that all sales are final and all activations are final. If they let you do it, thye're being nice. If they don't you have no recourse. |

Just in case anyone was wondering, Steam support put the game on my inventory!

Its good you got that resolved. Note that future instances of this mistake may not be fixed by Support in the future for you. Make sure you are more careful about game actvations from this point on.
