Personal Status

Simply put, I suggest that there be a 'Blotter status' for the Steam Community. Where people can post a status and say things like "I'm about to play Left 4 Dead. Anyone else wanna come?" or "I wonder if I should buy _________." and people could reply to them.

This status would be displayed on the Home blotter. I don't think it would really change the clutter of the blotter anyway.

I know this seems basic and cliche, but it could be put to great use.

sounds good, but steam is getting more and more like facebook; i dont know if this is good or bad...

It's not bad; it's good. Facebook is a great example of great communication.

I don't want my Facebook and steam account to connect. At the same time though, I want to be able to post a status like I would on Facebook and just have my gaming friends see it.

I've seen suggestions before for a feature that would let you post stuff like "Anyone up for Left 4 Dead Versus?" and have all your friends see it, rather than having to go around asking everyone you think might be up for it.

But honestly, I'm not sure posting in the blotter would be enough. I can't remember the last time I looked at mine, at all. Spamming everyone on your friends list is obviously overkill, but maybe a custom status in the friends panel (plus a blotter post, for those who look at that more often than their friends panel) would work.

I'd like this too, though it might be better implemented as a custom status in the friends pane with the blotter left unchanged.

I think they need to redesign the blotter so it is more popular. No one really uses it... But this could help spark it up.
