Who else is waiting until after release??
Been waiting for this game for years, but after the unoptimized mess that GTA4 was and still is, there is no way in hell Rockstar is getting my pre-order dollars until I see some independent post-release reviews/benchmarks. Won't be swayed by "pre-order to win" multiplayer bonuses either, dirty tricks i say...
Who else is planning to go this route as well?? |

I am going to both wait for reviews, AND a price drop before I purchase.

The optimization has me worried, but with a big title like this, there will be reviews for the PC version at least a good 3-5 days before the game comes out. Sites like Rock Paper Shotgun and UK's PC Gamer don't pull ANY punches if a PC game isn't up to snuff.
If the game get's decent marks from these places, I'll probably pre-order 2 or 3 days before the game comes out. If it runs well, but is poor quality/ short, I'll wait for a price drop and patching. Poorly optimized? Not buying for PC. |

just saw on an add for the game that if you preorder from bestbuy you get the local justice map pack for free....this is exactly what i didn't want this game to be. atleast i really don't care about the multiplayer. i plan on waiting for the reviews from places like RPS and from actual gamers as well.

I for one am waiting untill (user) reviews are out. I love Max Payne, and I'm really looking forward to this game a lot. But Rockstar has a very bad reputation when it comes to PC versions of their games. First GTA IV and then LA Noire.
The poorly handled 'System Requirements news' for MP3 is another thing that makes me wait. |

Rockstar has never made good PC ports. I'll be waiting until after release to see how many people are having performance issues.
Even GTA 4 still runs like ♥♥♥, and Rockstar has shown no desire to fix it. |

Any developer can fix clipping and control errors. The fact of the matter is that they haven't made the game RUN WELL.
So according to you it's ok if the game runs like dog♥♥♥♥ since they fixed a few misplaced trees and some textures? Brilliant logic there. |

Yeah I agree it runs better now then it did at launch, but for how good the game looks it has no justification to tax my system to the max and make my GPU work over time. I don't even have a bad system, it's what anybody would call mid range.
I'm just saying Rockstar can't even optimize their games correctly any more. It also doesn't help that they released system requirements for Max Payne 3 and they are awfully reminiscent of what GTA 4 and L.A. Noire's requirements were. |

I'm waiting for a price drop and reviews. Rockstar has the biggest hits and the most awful misses. I'd have much preferred Remedy develop (and write) this game and I am pessimistic.

Having played the game in a fan site event a week ago I must admit I was moderately excited for Max Payne 3. It wasn't Remedy developing, but it was Rockstar which has a great knack for story driven games (RDR, GTA, Bully comes to mind). Still, oddly enough considering I have been a fan of the games for 13 years, my expectations weren't through the roof, just high.
But that was until I played it. I can't say much before you can read our preview next week at http://www.paynereactor.com, so I'll leave it at that. But come read it on May the 2nd, I promise to give spoiler free reasons to get excited for May 15th (or a bit later depending on system/location). |
