You link me to a sweet Portal 2 video, and I end up watching this.

Was disappointed in the puzzles in P2 though I loved the rest of the game. Looks interesting. I hope this is idiot proof as I have no mapping talent and would really like to get to make some tests for a change.

Maybe because this is off topic?

Anyway, I've always liked making maps but doing it good in hammer is pretty hard. I made one map for Portal 2 that was cool, got lots of downloads too.

What he said. LOL The Portal 2 forums is bustling with talk about the new DLC (and the video... hee hee hee!) And I'm excited too.

What about things like props, scripting, and lighting? Or the I/O system? Does it let you play with things like that or is it like dragging and dropping little set-pieces together?

Heh, I'm in the same situation as you. I've tried to make a map several times, but as soon as I open Hammer, I think " that!", and I close it. It's way too hard!!!

I've actually worked with Hammer. It's challenging to work with, but ok. I just couldn't find a decent map FAQ for learning from.... Everything seemed to have only half the information I needed.

If it's not you can still export it to hammer later.
