GMOD problem

This is the error that shows up after opening it. It shows up the loading bar and the background then this:

Anyone has an idea on how to fix that?

Are you happening to use a pirated copy of garry's mod? Because that's the error you will get.

Nope, I own it, and I opened it about 2 months ago to play with a friend and everything worked fine. It seems like that the last update damaged everything. Also i already tryed to reinstall/ restart steam. I'll try rebooting the PC soon.

Also while you're checking the programs, right-click all your valid Source games that are used within Gmod, verify their game caches and defrag if needed. THEN reboot / restart Steam.

It might just be the last update really borked things and hasn't been fixed yet.

Tryed rebooting and checking the cache of all source games. I even tryed defragging them but nothing has changed. May I try to reinstall steam?

Same problem with me, garry updated mac people and broke windows as well.

Verify the game files and if push comes to shove, delete the local game content and redownload the game.

There is no widespread windows problem so it is most likely something on your end. The mac bug is fixed.

it is an engine error! It has nothing to do with the client! It is source engine. Source engine is broken on gmod. Valve has to fix ! I hope they fix it soon!

VALVE does not own or control Gmod. GARRY owns it and is the ONLY ONE who does anything to it or about it.

SPOILERS:

There is no problem with gmod on windows. If you are having problems you need to do a clean install. If it was a engine error, then EVERYONE would be having the EXACT SAME PROBLEM. Valve breaks gmod with engine updates. They do not fix gmod. Garry does and he is most likely asleep right now.

It says Engine Error. We cant do anything about source engine, it is valve/garrys fault. It hasn't fixed after 3 days.

It is not a engine problem at all. Read what I said before. Restart steam, verify game files.

Those dont work either, i tried many times. restarting steam wont fix an engine error. It is an offical hl2.exe pop-up saying Engine Error

Go to facepunch and post there because that is the only other way your going to fix it.

I may have a fix for those of you using an antivirus program called "Avast".
1. Try to remember before Gmod was broken if an Avast Virus Alert popped up.
2. Go to your Virus Chest and look for a file called "vstdlib_s.dll".
3. If you found it, turn off your file shield* and restore the file.
4. Open Gmod.
* A note regarding the file shield, it HAS to be off while you play Gmod or it WILL be moved to the chest again. I dont know if Avast fixed it in a Virus Definitions update yet, but I did report it as a false positive so they MIGHT fix it soon.
Remember, this MIGHT not work for you, but it worked for me.
