[Steam] SteamApps() Is NULL

I get the above error when trying to start Ghee-Mawd.
I'm not using the pirated version, I've tried reinstalling the .blob file, defragging, and checking steam cache.
Was there a new update, or did Garry drop a Coleman on his comp?

same problem with me, garry tried to fix mac people and broke windows as well.

I already realized there was another post, but the whole idea of going onto another forum post to say 'I get this error too' doesn't really solve anything, aside from jarateing off people who come onto here to look for an answer.

I may have a fix for those of you using an antivirus program called "Avast".
1. Try to remember before Gmod was broken if an Avast Virus Alert popped up.
2. Go to your Virus Chest and look for a file called "vstdlib_s.dll".
3. If you found it, turn off your file shield* and restore the file.
4. Open Gmod.
* A note regarding the file shield, it HAS to be off while you play Gmod or it WILL be moved to the chest again. I dont know if Avast fixed it in a Virus Definitions update yet, but I did report it as a false positive so they MIGHT fix it soon.
Remember, this MIGHT not work for you, but it worked for me.

1.Opt out of the Steam Beta Update.
2.Restart Steam as it asks you.
3.???
4.Profit!
