yep i did all that im good with how hot it gets i have my side off all the time with the GTX 480 it gets hot but i have the fans max out all the time my old Thermal Electric CPU Cooler die so i did get a new one all good never got too hot.. got my hands on some money so i was like well its time to get the DLC's for fallout! and maybe 1 or 2 more games well soon as the DLC's was put in then it started messing up & i check the game & re-download it and get this now 1 files failed to validate and will be reacquired...

it could be a nvidea driver install(clean install option not working proper) issue i had the sudden shutdown happen here too but not in fallout new vegas

since then i do the thing myself with driver sweeper

try a uninstall video drivers and clean with driver sweeper then reboot and install the latest video drivers and reboot again


you can ignore the 1 file failed to validate (there are several games that do that)

well like i pointed out in the other post i did i re-installed windows and installed it in a diff HDD unless the nvidea driver is the thing that is messing up everything then hmm really messed up that it would kill my hole computer but hey something to look at. nice tip ill see if i can find a older driver

well i installed a older diver and still no good i was almost thinking it worked i could play BF3 for almost an 1/2 hr. well you see fallout is not the only game im having a hard time on i was thinking BF3 on max would be the best game to run to see if it was fix and sadly im back at start not knowing what to try next :'( guess i need to land a job so i can just go out and buy a new motherboard and hope its not my cpu or anything lol oh well...

MEMTEST86, or Prime95 test, maybe? Just leave them running overnight or something.

i try'ed out the MEMTEST86 run that 6 in 1/2 hr's till i could not stand it anymore lol but it seem to be working...i still need to try to download everything with a diff computer yet just been too lazy lol i just hope something just blows up soon or stop working all together then ill know just to get a new video card or something.. lol thats me talking cheap run but im sure it will be something more..

well i fix the 1 files failed to validate thing try'ed something new lol i un-installed the game then click re-install right when it told me its installing and at 1% i click the validate then did both at the same time download and validate one hits 100% b4 the other when the game is installed it told me all was validated. so now my next test is to see if my computer dies again lol here goes nothing..

Sounds like a temperature issue to me, especially since it happens in multiple games after an amount of time. CPU, or GPU, but more likely CPU since it's a full shutdown instead of throttling, is probably overheating and the PC is shutting down to protect itself.

Please list your full system specs and your CPU & GPU temperatures under full load, i.e. while gaming.

under load the CPU is like 95,F

GPU im guessing its much hotter the 480 runs super hot & i have the fan on max at all time. the Thermal Electric cooler seems to keep the cpu cool

now i can play the game for a long time now & i dont have a crash or a death but i played saints row :3rd and it would die maybe 3 to 2 sec's in or maybe last a bit then die no lag no nothing just dead no blue screen of death no nothing
