I just conquered all of India and all the local towns have leftover native buildings left (Raja's Observatory, Raja's Court, Raja's Parliament, etc.).
I don't think those structures threaten me in any way; I'm keeping the population under control by adjusting taxes. Should I destroy those structures and try to replace them with British equivalents? Is it worth the money that will have to go into building and upgrading the new British structures? Thanks in advance for replies. |

The problem is that with some improvements you won't be able to upgrade them past their current level. If you ever plan on major improvements, go ahead and raze them. If you plan on leaving them untouched, then I would just leave them in place. Another issue is religion, some structures have religious influence, and its to your advantage to raze these and replace them with your state religion.

Depends
When it comes to razing native structures there are only two reasons to do so. One is if it influences the populations religion that is not your nations, (this includes most Native American buildings), the only other building I would raze is the Native American communal farms, since they cannot be upgraded past the equivalent of Clearances. All European, Indian, and Ottoman buildings however seem to give the same bonuses to their respective counterparts, so I would not recommend razing them.

In the case of America, the Native American "university" and the farms are much better than the European counterparts, even taking into account upgrades. They give the same or greater resources, and the university gives happiness instead of unrest.

I'm wondering the same thing. Playing as Spain, I've just taken Morocco, and I'm looking at a bunch of damaged buildings and a furious populace. None of them appear to have any religious effects, and one or two are fully upgraded. I wouldn't mind saving the money by repairing them rather than replacing them and building all the way up the tier.
In particular, I'd like to retain the ability to recruit Dahomey Amazons, but I'm a little worried that if I replace the Moroccan equivalent of the governor's house I'll lose the option to recruit them. Are they linked to the territory, or to the combo of building and territory? |
