Cardboard boxes are silly

http://steamcommunity.com/id/_Levi/s...339?tab=public

Seriously, what on earth is the point of them other than to eat up my time? This ain't fun.

They make basements more difficult to get through use spells like fire touch or direct fire projectiles like ball lightning and fireball, which from the image you posted seems to be what you are doing.

Taking them out with fire touch or direct fire projectiles is the slowest and least efficient way to deal with them.

If you want to get through them quickly then you'll need miasma whip, creeping death, or other spell that has some degree of penetration or continuous damage. If you aren't carrying any of those then I don't recommend trying to brute force your way through basements until you have one.

Also, from the screenshot it looks like your selection of spells is rather small. Unless you have more tucked up in your inventory I would go back to the settlement and check the spell crafting menu and see what it has already available. You may already have something sitting there that can take out the boxes very quickly.

Miasma Whip is a basic spell so you should definitely have access to it.

Also, Energy Pulse.

I switched over to "Creeping death" that seems to instant-kill almost everything and eats boxes. Seems to be working better. I still think the hallways filled with boxes are pointless though.

I almost wonder if I can go fight the overlord with just that spell at tier 2. Haha.

They're completely pointless.

Energy Slice can cut through them easily, though.

And yeah, you probably could kill the overlord with it at Tier 2. But you'd have to contend with his lieutenants. And you'd have to actually get to him...

Tidal Pulse works fine too, even at level 1 (~2x10 boxes in 1 single use).

Btw, it's almost ridiculous. What kind of cataclysm fills the entire world with cardboxes? Stone blocks? No. Maybe concrete? No, F*** cardboxes!!! A valley without wind? NO! They really need a continent without boxes!

Joking aside, fan of AI War here, and now fan of AVWW too.
Very fun game. Future patches will be quite interesting, without doubt (and maybe without boxes! xD).

I have a storage shed that is just FILLED with boxes (yeah, yeah I know). There is absolutely no where to walk, but then again it's smaller than a bathroom. I've never had a basement before, but I was under the assumption that people use them for storage similar to a garage. You know, the kind you can't even fit a car into there's so much stuff? Not everybody turns them into living spaces for teenagers.

So when you go into a basement in AVWW just remember that you end up just UTTERLY destroying some poor saps useless junk that they've forgot about ages before the cataclysm hit.
