Tastefully done of course. It's the least they could do for Eli. It was his wish after all. Also as Kleiner said, they each need to be doing their part for human survival.

Careful. We would see this from Gordon's first-person perspective. Do you really want this?

In this case I think it'd be far nicer on the eyes AND mind than FEAR 2's ending of the same bent. Given that Alma was DEAD, and Alyx is ALIVE...

First I thought it was stupid. Then I got to the end and realized it was even more stupid. We don't want a ME3 like ending. Of course, I don't have a problem with multiple endings, but they must be done correctly.

Ha, that'd be cool. And I have a "story" for it.

Spoiler:
At the end of HL3, G-Man appears, as usual, with a new speech. He goes like "Nicely done, Mr. Freeman. I am so impressed by your recent actions, that I have suggested my supervisors to take a closer look on you... Now one of them would like a little talk with you..."

And, out of nowhere, GabeN appears...

"So this is Dr. Freeman, we meet at last after such a long time... You have done a great job here, but, unfortunately, you can't have your deserved rest as of yet... I have one more mission for you..."

END CREDITS

That would be a fitting ending, and a way to keep the franchise from ending!

Eli comes back as a walke-... a zombie and infects Gordon. But Alyx secretly has a zombie fetish so we see a first person hot zombie-human action between them. Finally, Barney confesses his love for the demoman and shares a few beers with him and then sleeps with him.
Perfect ending right there.

Combine advisor vs Gordon and a crowbar (plus AI director and biofeedback ensuring I need a change of underwear)

I want an epic boss battle. Not the kind were you shoot the out of the boss but one that's cinematic. Like the end boss in HL2 when you're climbing to the top of the tower to fight Breen. I don't think I've ever seen the classic style of boss battle (Patterns over action) applied to an FPS.

Spoiler:
On the Borealis you discover some sort of huge weapon, that is supposed to eradicate all Combine forces in the entire multiverse. But it is broken, so the White Forest science team manages to teleport the ship away to a save location. During repairs it becomes clear, that a crucial part of the weapon is missing, and your job in HL3 is to find that McGuffin. Don't know what it is, maybe a citadel from the combine homeworld.
After everything is taken care of, you have to take a teleport back to earth and the Borealis. But the teleporter is guarded by striders. You and your team try to make a push for it, but the striders fry everybody like ants. Confident that they have done their job, they then leave the scene. Turns out you are not dead, just heavily wounded. You manage to get up and limp towards the teleporter, when suddenly one lone Combine Soldier jumps out of cover and tries to kill you. But your aim is superior and you have unlimited ammo, so no big deal.
After you teleport on board of the Borealis, you can hear the voice of Alyx. She claims that she followed you into the teleporter but you two didn't come out at the same place. You go through a hallway filled with human corpses and finally reach a big room with a console to activate the weapon, where Alyx is already waiting for you. Relieved you walk towards her thinking, this is going to end now, only to be interrupted by a familiar voice. Dr. Breen appears behind you in his new Advisor form. With his new abilities he controls both of you and gives a long speech on how the Combine are the best thing that could have happened to humanity, and that we could control them with the Borealis instead of destroying them. Then to demonstrate his power he forces you to shoot Alyx in the belly. Breen talks some more bull and attempts to suck Alyx's brains out. With your strong willpower you break free of Breen's control and kill him instead.
Alyx, mortally wounded, sits down next to you. You notice a wound on your belly. She looks outside the big window at the beautiful Aurora Borealis, telling you how much she loved you and stuff. Then she dies. But no time to grieve. You have to activate the weapon. You try to stand up but you are at your limits and lose consciousness. You land on a platform that elevates you up to an unknown and mysterious area of the Borealis where the G-Man is waiting for you.
He wakes you up and tells you that he controls the Combine. He explains that their purpose is to maintain order in the multiverse. Without the Combine one species would eventually rise to such power through technology that they will either kill or enslave every other species. But now with the Borealis, he offers you 3 alternatives:

1) You can take control over the Combine yourself. You could tell them to leave and end the conflict, but in the process you will lose everything you have.

2) You can submit to the Combine. By sacrificing yourself, every lifeform in the multiverse will be instantly "combined". There will finally be peace.

3) Destroy all combined lifeforms. This will kill everything that has combine technology in it. The final scene shows a shockwave originating from the Borealis engulfing the entire multiverse, killing all Combine. Kleiner and Magnussen live happily ever after. After the scene fades out, there is one final shot where you see the HEV suit close up lying in the rubble, presumably with Gordon in it. The suit moves and you hear a breath. Was everything just a dream?

That was going great until I realized what just happened.

I want the climax of Half Life 3 to make me climax. Plain and simple. Enough said.
