Browsing is a total pain
Why is Steam so aggravating when you're browsing through games? Say you're looking through all games under $10. There's like 60 pages to go through (why not just one big list?) Then on page 15, you see something you may be interested in, so you click on it. After adding it to your wishlist, you go back and... what? Back on page 1? There's no quick way to get back to page 15 so you have to click 3-5-7-9-11-13-15? What a PITA it is to just browse through this list.
Suggestion: The [...] that's between the page numbers? Make it so when you click on that, you can choose the page number you want to navigate to. It's pretty bad when some adult sites are more user-friendly than Steam. Last edited by TentacleMayor: 04-12-2012 at 11:55 PM. |

I totally agree with this post.
The Steam client is slow and frustrating to use. |

If they can change the list to an endless scroll, like they have for the news page, this would be a much nicer to use.
Failing that, OPs ideas are good. |

Signed. However until it's fixed I'll be clicking the middle mouse button in my browser.

Yup, this is an issue that needs to be addressed. Maybe a simple dropdown with page numbers that you can jump to would work.

It pains me to say that I avoid this issue by browsing the store in a standard web browser. When I see a game I want to examine further, I right click and choose "Open in New Tab." That way, I get to see the game's store page without losing my place in the store.
Not ideal, obviously. It's one of my three major issues with the Steam client. The other two are library management and unscalable teeny tiny fonts, both of which have lengthy threads in this very forum, pleading for improvements. Why don't ANY of the self-directed employees/employee teams at Valve care about making the Steam client have better user functionality? Honestly, they need some competition. Competition almost always means improvements for the consumer. |

I agree. There should at least be an option as how to view it. Forums have that, how many posts to show, in what manner, etc.

I agree with everything in this thread but honestly, when's the last time they added anything new to the steam client? There was the mobile app but...wooooow so useful. How did I ever get by with text, calling, BBM, facetime etc. Instead of adding pointless things they should actually read these forums, like OPs post.
