GTX 680 4gb or just get a 2gb?

would it really help if i get a 4gb over a 2gb card? its hard enough trying to find a 2gb let alone when the 4gb models come out. are there any games that it would help in? i dont plan to add an extra monitor any time soon.

The performance difference between the 2GB and 4GB model is non-existent.

Save your money, and get the 2GB model.

Wouldn't it just help if you have a massive monitor?

most likely by the time you need 4 GB VRAM for gaming, the video card is gonna be too slow.

if you plan on running multi monitor, or single monitor at 2560x1600 on future games, the 4gb might help

If you're using Eyefinity or Nvidia surround at crazy high res's, 4gb might be in your best interest. 2560x1600 should be fine with 2gb, but for how long I don't know. Any res under that is fine with 2gb.

1920x1080. im just not sure if future games will use up that video memory. i could always get a second card somewhere down the line when prices drop

By the time video games need that amount of VRAM, you will have either updated your monitor to the next higher res or your video card will simply not keep up based on GPU power. I would go with the 2GB version.

At 1920 x 1080, 4 GB likely won't be of much use until texture sizes jump dramatically, and you crank up AA to extreme levels.

He'll still be fine with any game at any settings(VRAM-wise) with the 2gb @1080p

For single or dual screen setups, a single GTX 680 2GB is more then enough @ 1080p (or even 1920x1200)

Even if it is more than enough, you might want to get the 4GB model if it's not too much more or if you can afford it incase you get more monitors or just so worst comes to worse you never run into a ram limit. Me? I'm waiting for the GTX 685 to come out, single GPU, more cores, 4GB of RAM.

2GB cards can run 5760x1080 (3x 1920x1080 [6 million pixels]) just fine, the only possible way you'd need the 4GB is if you were running multiple 2560x1600 monitors in Eyefinity/Surround, and by that point you'd need a more powerful card (/system) anyways. As everyone else said, there's no real benefit above 2GB VRAM. It's kinda like buying 32GB of RAM (pointless).
