Another "Launcher no launching" thread
Yep, that's right. This is a widely reported issue (thanks for bad ports rockstar!), and nothing I've tried has fixed it for me. This includes the official rockstar support page.
For those unfamiliar: The launcher launches fine. I press launch. The launcher disappears. LANoire.exe sticks around for a minute in processes. Nothing happens. |

Try uninstalling Adobe Acrobat - oddly it fixed that problem for me!

That actually ♥♥♥♥ing worked (kind of)
Why the ♥♥♥♥ would that ever conflict, rockstar Okay, that aside. It actually gave me an error this time. http://i.imgur.com/Xr6Ra.png That's okay, though! I mean, sure, sure, rockstar social club was working, and still working, just fine when I launched GTA4. That doesn't matter, because I just reinstalled it, and it does work now. As in the, the game works. Thank you very much for your assistance. What the ♥♥♥♥ rockstar |

In my case, I had the full Adobe Acrobat suite installed. My guess would be that uninstalling Acrobat Reader would fix the problem as well. Good luck! |

Uninstalling Adobe Reader didn't work for me.
The good news was I renamed LANoire.exe to LANoire2.exe and tried running it and the game launched. I believe one of my security programs is causing a conflict. Last edited by Dude902: 04-19-2012 at 10:06 PM. |

What anti-virus (or other security software) do you have installed?
If it's Avast, setup it's options to always ASK before running a program in "Sandbox Mode". This is a known issue with some games. You can however add a game .exe (or other app) to the trusted listing so Avast never asks or tries to run that app under sandbox mode again. TBO it's best to just temp disable or pause your AV protection so it doesn't get in the way. Long as the program you're running is known to be safe. Then re-enable AV protection once you exit your game. |

I found out what my problem was. It was the Nvidia Optimus issue on this page of Rockstar's site. It was "fixed" because when I changed the name there was no longer an optimus profile for the exe.
On a side note, there actually was a minor problem with a security program. Ad-Aware thought "social club v1.0.6.1 to v1.0.6.6 updater.exe" was a trojan. |

I was alarmed to see Ad-Aware detect "a serious threat." Only when I rebooted did I see it was deleting RockStar Social Club. Googled it and came across this. Put my mind at ease.
Cheers! |

Bumping this thread in the hope that it will help fix someone's LA Noire in light of this week's sale.

I mean, it's a pretty fun game and I definitely got my money's worth (sans technical frustration), but what the ♥♥♥♥ rockstar it's a horrible port. |
