Sigh, this is still impossible? Does no one at Valve actually join groups that have events? It's really irritating coming home and seeing 15 windows open for this junk.

At the very least the notifications should close themselves once the event has ended.

Steam groups have so very little options, it's staggering.

Not being able to disable event notifications is just one of them.

How about the ability for public group admins to ban trolls?

How 'bout the ability to make group history private?

How 'bout the ability to hotlink in announcements and events?

How about the ability for public group admins to ban trolls?

Please, Steam, show some love to your groups!!!!

Exclamation

Can we at least hear from someone from Steam saying whether or not this option, to disable event notifications, is ever going to be implemented?

Will this thread go another five years before they consider it?

Events are such a great tool to use in a Steam group, but not giving the people an option to disable them, and making the notification minimize all other windows, is quite ridiculous.

Please, Steam, listen to your customers!

3 years, 5 months, 2 days Since this thread was started...

For laughs I put in a ticket

Quote:
Hello,

A staff member has replied to your question:

Hello Ryan,

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

Thank you for your comments, we value feedback from the Steam community. I will forward your comments onto the appropriate department.

Additionally, if you wish to share an opinion, suggestion, or idea with the community as well, please visit the Suggestions/Ideas section of the Steam Forums, found here:

Though I included the fact that there was a 3 year old thread about this already on the forums

Clearly they know and are working on it

Clearly then Moderators fail in this thread. Isn't it logical that without any acknowledgement from Valve/Steam devs a thread such as this keeps going?

They should bring a request such as this to the Steam devs attention and stalk them for a reply already. Moderation moves two ways right?

Lol if not after 3 years, when?

How dare you question the inner workings of Valve, damn it the guy said he was forwarding my email to the appropriate department, however we all know said appropriate department is most definitely a little device known as an incinerator.

I shall open a new ticket on this day in 2013 containing the same request, be ready Valve, it's coming...

I still lose members from my group every single time I post an event, because event notifications minimize any window you have up, plus THERE IS NO OPTION TO DISABLE THEM.

Please, for Heaven's sake, include this in the next Steam update! I'm begging you guys!

I also opened a ticket now for our cause. This is what I wrote support. Feel free to do the same. They have been ignoring this for four(!) years now.

Hi there,

whenever a group I am member of posts an event, a notification pops up. Interrupting other tatsks / games that are in the foreground.

PROBLEM: There is no way to disable these notifications!

Due to this persisting problem, I have left most of my Steam groups, rendering a key feature of Steam practically useless.

SOLUTION: Please add a method to disable event notifications for individual Steam groups!

Many thanks and kind regards,
Chris

Thank you for doing this.

Looks like I'm going to have to open a ticket as well, and I suggest others do so too, since, obviously, four+ years worth of posts accomplishes nothing.

Just a shame that right now I have to either, not post events, which a lot of my members joined the group for, and risk losing them, or post events, and lose 5+ members ever single time I do.

Steam replied to the ticket after a day, with a one liner:

"we will forward this".

So... I suggest we keep on bugging them with more tickets and bumps to this threat...

*Bump*.. 4 years in the running? OBVIOUSLY Steam pays no attention to the Suggestions/Ideas Forums. Did they start this Forum just to make it easer for them to ignore the paying customer's requests?

Has anyone else put in any more tickets and gotten any responses?

There is so much more work they need to do with Steam groups.

Admins of public Steam groups need the ability to ban players. This would save Steam support a ton of hassle.

Steam admins, including admins of public groups, need the ability to make the information, within the group, private - that includes what's on the main page, the RSS feed, group history, comments, events, members, and announcements. Needs way more privacy options.

PLEASE, STEAM, SHOW YOUR STEAM GROUPS AND GROUP ADMINS SOME LOVE!
