XP Crash Help

Hey Guys!
So I just recently bought Cossacks II: Battle for Europe. A major problem has occurred though wherein whenever I try to play the game, the initial loading bar loads completely and then before the Intro video I receive a message stating that "You have changed game date. Internet Game will not be possible" and the game shuts down following this message.
I have already read the multiple threads concerning this particular problem on this forum and others but the people posting seem to be able to keep on playing their game whilst I cannot.
