Obulis doesn't start!

I recently bought Obulis for myself and my brother. His works fine and he loves it. I want to love it, but whenever I click on it, it flashes open for about 1/10 of a second, then closes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it, to no avail. Running it as an administrator doesn't help; neither does compatibility mode. When I run it in 256 colors, it flashes open then closed repeatedly, but doesn't ever stay open. I haven't read about this happening to anyone else, so I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any ideas what might help? I really want to play this game.

Hi, sorry I can't help you, just wanted to say that I have exactly the same problem. The strange thing is, I bought it about 2 weeks ago, and was working fine until today!

Just written with Bob and he says that he would check the forum and hopefully find something that we have in common... So:

Lenovo T400
Vista 32bit
Intel Core 2 Duo 2,4GHz
Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family graphics (GMA 4500MHD)
4GB RAM
1440x900 screen resolution

Weird but got an idea... Made a desktop shortcut and chose run as admin... The game startet! And now it starts from Steam aswell...

But sadly not all good news... The framerate seemes very very low... Havn't gotten thru the intro scene yet because it takes forever and runs very laggy...

This fix worked for me...

Hello,

The game MUST be run in 800x600 resolution the first time it's launched. However, the game does not change the display itself, so it must be done manually.

So - change the resolution to 800x600, run the game once, exit, then change to the default resolution on your system, then you will be able to run the game without any troubles.
Thanks

I've got the same problem. I am running windows 7 ultimate 32-bit. It's extremely laggy and I have tried starting it with 800x600 resolution and stuff. Still doesn't work.

Getting the same miserable performance at the title screen.

Win 7
AMD X2 4400
ATI 1900 XT
2GB ram

Tried the 800x600 suggestion, same results: slow menus and barely usable. Taskmgr shows 40-50% of cpu being used.

Tried dropping CPU affinity to a single core, no change.

Any suggestions or are we out of luck with this one?

I'm on a friends computer trying to fix his copy of Obulis. Here is where it gets weird. We both have Windows Vista 32 bit and fairly new computers.

My copy of Obulis has never had this problem.
His copy has only recently developed this problem. I asked him if he ever played the game on THIS computer. He said yes.

He ran it in both compatibility mode and admin mode. Same as described above. The 800x600 resolution change did fix the issue. However I am still confused why he has this problem and I don't.

He also did a full uninstall and reinstall.
We noticed the Steam "Delete Local Content" left some files so we manually removed those and tried again. Still didn't fix the problem.

Here are the ONLY differences between my workstation and his.

Mine is Vista 32 Professional and a custom built desktop.
His is Vista 32 Home and a store-bought laptop.

I started having the same issue last week. I've had to perform the following on 2 occasions already. I had to change the color quality to 16 bit, save, then back to 32 bit, then save again. Now, Obulis should start.
