Cannot use voodoo doll

Okay, so I've made the voodoo doll and I'm standing in front of Slick. I stand in front of him, enable the doll, it's in my hand, and the game tells me to move the mouse to aim and to press the left mouse button to use it. Except nothing happens, the camera jumps back a tiny little bit every time I use it, but that's it.

Tearing my hair out trying to figure out this one, can anyone help?

I think you're trying to use it on the wrong pirate. try it on Jim
