No, they will still get trashed. Eventually, the person will like a game that lots of other people don't like. Then folks like you will swoop in and proclaim that their review has been 'bought'.

Dear gods... What on Earth is this thread?

The game is actually (albeit slowly) starting to become playable. I expected this thread to be full of surprise and a newfound sense of optimism. Instead you guys are getting all megamad over the past. Kerb's reputation has been damaged due to bad deployment, worse code, and a failed coverup. It's water under the bridge and it's their problem now. Stop infighting as though they don't already know that.

Instead, maybe you should encourage any dev who happens to peruse these forums that we are a group worth patching the game for instead of a bunch of ungrateful complainers.

Personally I don't care if they patch the game. If a toothbrush falls into the toilet do you clean it up and use it or do you throw it away? That is how I feel about this game.

Yeah DivineFrog, good luck with that!

The SINS team and the SOTS team came from very similar origins, even sharing a lot of the same personal at one point.

Here we have one company that does not want to release an unfinished game, so they take pre-purchases and allow beta access to rush the project along. Collecting money while they finish it off with a calm stroll to the finish line.

Then we have quite another that dumps an alpha build onto the market and declares 'It will be finished in a matter of weeks. We promise. We are so sorry for what we did.'

On top of that I'm sure that a lot of people would take notice of SINS development scheme. They keep building on the same engine over and over again, getting better and better as they go. Kerberos did this as well right up until 'Murder Of Crows'. When SOTS2 launched- I even mentioned that Kerberos should have simply polished the engine a bit and put out another race pack. Maybe added a few more features. It would have sold with no problems. They could even have called it a sequel if they had wanted to. Sure people might have muttered that it 'was not much of a sequel'. But a little muttering would have been a LOT better than this.

I think that has to be my over-all gripe with Kerberos. It was their approach. It was Ego. It was Hubris.
You know SOTS2 this blows a hole in the only justification I could think of for what KP did, keeping Steam sweet by not admitting it was a beta. If Ironclad can happily presell a beta-buy-in on Steam there is no justification for the SotS2 debacle, it must just be a pile of botch, pure and simple. Unless they started allowing beta-buy-ins because of SotS2?

Oh I agree that this game has been messed up for a long time and still barely deserves a release even now. But I was just wondering why there seems to be more complaining right as the game makes its largest improvements towards being playable.

I started a thread a while back called "SotS 2 Prioritization" about 9 months after I bought it, in which I highlighted all my major issues with the game and precisely why I thought it was unplayable. Less than a month later all of these issues start getting addressed seemingly in that order. Not quire sure if I had anything to do with that, but regardless, they finally took their heads out of their collective asses and are attempting to make this boat at least buoyant if not seaworthy.

Its only been seven months if you count the 3 days of october as a full month. But at least my reasoning for "girl behavior or b word" is so it will never be forgotten. I don't want other small developers thinking they can pull this crap. I want them to know when shizt like this happens they anger the customer base and risk not being able to sale a future game with good enough numbers that would impress a publisher. That is why I do it. To let the future game developers now that unless your a mega developer like Capcom, Sega or EA who could really release nasty stuff equal to SOTS 2 and not be affected because they have that many drones. Well small developers like Kerbeoes has some drones (if they aren't paid employees I'm thinking half of their drones are) they don't have enough to sell impressive numbers when they release garbage. They didn't learn from SOTS prime. They need to learn from SOTS 2

Part of the thinking it over thing DivineFrog is working out how much of what happened was a blatant con and how much unintended shambles so we can judge KP and act appropriately in the future. Its a natural process of the conscience which should not be obstructed and should be assisted.

It is also part of a larger debate about unfinished games. It may look like negativity to some but only in contrast to false positivity aka hype and flim flam.

I would pick it up and clean it ofc. Does falling into the toilet somehow remove the toothbrush's intrinsic value?

So you don't care if they patch the game? You only play games that have no bugs out of the box then? Good luck.

It sound like you're a very unforgiving person, would you happen to be both american and quite religious? Or simply a very young person?

I am not American and I am an Atheist.
However your discriminatory attitudes against a nationality and people of faith is rank bigotry. You should be ashamed of yourself.

You would spend more time cleaning the toothbrush than just getting a new one.

We all know there is no game that is above simple programming that comes out without bugs. But how many games fail to load when sold and remain unplayable for at least 4 months from its released and is still not completed 6 months in. Would you continue to buy a car from a dealer that sold you a lemon? If you don't you aren't very forgiven. Must be either young and a socialist.

And this why atheists get trounced in debates. Your astounding self-defeating, lack of manners makes it too easy.

Accusatory and Inflammatory.. and yet you're the one that is obviously non-religious and non-american.

Just wow.

And this was necessary why? Pretty appalled STEAM allows moderator privileges to people like you. Post reported either way. That was very unnecessary.

Wow, how are you a moderator with this coming from your mouth?

That aside, it's almost playable now... Not quite but almost. I think we're within hand grenade range at this point in the game.
