Far Cry 2 - YAY FOR AFRICA!

Crysis 2 - City..Jungle

Far Cry 3 - Jungle/Island

Crysis 3 - Let's throw a JUNGLE in a CITY on an ISLAND!

On a serious note I'd like to point out the awesomeness of originality given us in Far Cry 1 giving us the jungle/island option and then Far Cry 2 giving us the Africa option. Would've liked to see Far Cry 3 turn us onto something new again, but life is about learning how to watch your dreams die...

You know, I think it would be great to have indoor and outdoor locations. I was kinda disappointed at the lack of indoors in FC 2. I guess it wouldn't have made much sense, considering the surroundings, but still...

And LOL at "a JUNGLE in a CITY on an ISLAND"

I am dissappointed in the environment of FC3 too.

It's soo green and unorigional. I liked africa because I saw all these plants and life I didnt get see in any other game. I can throw that out the window.

AGREED! I haven't played Crysis yet (i know it's tragic I'm working on it. I'm only two games away in my library!!!!) so obviously not Crysis 2 either but Far Cry had always impressed me with the indoor options. Crazy science labs, rusted wonky abandoned ships; it had a great balance of the two IMO. I imagine we should get some of that juxtaposition back in Crysis 3 but we'll see how it plays out.

I don't think we'll get that in Far Cry 3 though as I remember a good bit of them showing us indoor possibilities when Far Cry was being developed but they haven't shown us anything indoors so far.

Heh, Farcry 3 can take place in a Starbucks as far as I am concerned as long as as my character doesn't have malaria.

Though I honestly was hoping for a setting like rural Russia...perhaps even Afghanistan or Pakistan...not the actual countries of corse as that might get a little too political, but I like the landscape of arid tundra on a mountainous horizon. It can really be breath taking...till you get shot at.

But I don't think anything can show off the capabilities of a graphics engine like a jungle though. So I am sure we will be seeing jungle warfare for a long time to come.

Only the first Far Cry is from Crytek (like Crysis series). Far Cry 2 and now 3 have nothing to do with the first one or even Crysis.

Well, sure they do: they're the sequels to FarCry. Doesn't matter who developed it or if the stories are connected or even if the game is any good - it's still FarCry 2.

They have noting to do with each other. Complete different story lines. Crytek made the first, UBI Soft Montreal made two. I'm not sure who is doing three. (I don't read up about games, I like playing them better!)

am i the only one who wanted a real sequel to the original Far Cry? i know that the story wasn't full of twists (pretty predictable actually) but it's still one of my favourites ;]

Ubisoft is used to it...in fact as Ubisoft games go Farcry 2 was a hit.

I think Far Cry 2 WAS a hit, at least in terms of sales.
Seems that everyone has played it, although probably less than half actually liked it.

Doesn't matter, it's still the official sequel. Several game series had changing developer studios, sometimes for better and sometimes/mostly for worse - FarCry is nothing special in that regard.

... and even if it's the same studio, it's often not the same PEOPLE behind it, because some have since left the company, new ones were brought in and everything's under new management, etc.

The name of the studio doesn't guarantee you anything at all.
