Could we please see either an option for higher resolution textures or a DLC?

By now mostly everyone is aware of the update incoming next week, and the fact that it is for the PC only. Since the release of Portal 2 I've been somewhat disappointed that there was never an option for "Very High" textures (however this was also the case with a game like L4D2) and put this mostly towards the fact that it was made with the console version in mind. The quality of the textures has been something that has always gotten to me. They are fairly low resolution and definitely not what one would expect of a 2011 video game. The thing is that we can almost be certain that the textures are available, just not in the game (see most of the trailers for the game). Would anyone else be in the same boat as me in wanting an option for higher resolution textures, or a DLC available on Steam that brings higher resolution textures (much like Skyrim) at the time of this next update? This is my plea though Valve, I just want this game to be the best it can be, a bit of eyecandy is nice every now and then.

I'd also like to see higher resolution textures in Portal 2, but I highly doubt that Valve will ship a high-res pack.

All Source games have low resolution textures. What can we do?

If Valve sees it worthwhile to release an HD pack then they will release an HD pack. If they don't believe there is enough interest in an HD pack, then it simply won't be created.

its not the lowres textures, its the lack of shaders/effects/cheap lighting.

ultra high textures wouldnt do much for quake for example, because of the lack of shaders and advanced lighting.

What do you mean? Portal 2 has got quite a lot of shaders and dynamic lighting.

Dynamic lighting is still limited to one light source in Portal 2. Just want to throw it out there.
