same problem here, dont ask me why this dont work - but try starting the game directly (e.g. d:\steam\steamapps\common\savage 2 a tortured soul\savage2.exe) - works for me

is a great game, there are not any game like that.
Just download the game from the game webside and use your acount...
I play on W7 X64 bits and vista x64 bits and work fine.Game have some random bugs anyway is a great game.
Is a free to play game if you buy it have some functions than free game.So try free version from the main webside: www savage2-com

I have the same issue. But as mentioned launching through the executable found in the steamapps/Savage 2 folder works fine. They should fix it. Hopefully Savage 2 goes F2P on steam.

Or maybe it's just me? I'v had the problem on several OS'es and several installs of windows 7. And two computers. Seems quite consistent for me.

I used to play this game a lot, I loved it! The shapeshifter was fun to play

Also if I'm not mistaken this game is F2P so I don't see what the problem is?

I'm way late on this topic, but is the option available to directly download the client from their site? If so, try that rather than launching the game from Steam. I assume Savage 2 doesn't use your Steam account to log, being a separate account instead.
