Steam not connecting thru 'shared connection'

Hi.

I have my PC hooked up through an iMac shared connection. Normally Steam has always run fine on my PC before this set up. I hate to share a connection this way but it's unfortunately the only way to connect my PC for now.

Steam will not connect at all even though I have internet. I'm just curious if anyone else has a similar internet set up and can help me troubleshoot this one out.

Wonder if it has to do with ports. I personally don't know if steam will actually start if the ports its uses are blocked in one way or another.

Have you tried:

Checking the firewall?

Checking the ports steam uses?

Setting steam to launch via tcp or by bypassing the login prompt?

I've tested the firewall and everything else you mentioned with no success. I wonder if there is something on the mac that is preventing Steam from connecting, even though I'm on the PC?
