Codemasters set out to create a sub-game of DiRT focused on action and contact racing, yet people seem to hate the game because of that. It's clearly not trying to be DiRT4. But it's simply bizarre to say that it shouldn't be called DiRT when the similarities are patently obvious.
I love your opinion. It's what I've been trying to say as well; people are looking at it because of the IP "DiRT" and assuming IT MUST BE RALLY when in fact it's a little off-shoot arcade game being developed, possibly to allow Codemasters to focus the -real- DiRT4 on proper rallying rather than litter it with all these party modes like dirt 2/3 did (although to be fair I enjoy rallycross and the Infected game mode so so long as rallycross remains in Dirt4 I'll be fine :])

However, I do believe you meant to say "blatantly" instead of "patently". :]

That's a common misconception, but no I actually did mean 'patently'.

pat·ent·ly
adv.
In a patent manner; openly, plainly, or clearly: a patently false statement.

No, you are not. I think this is fun, because I have lots of fun with my friends smashing our cars against others when we play Dirt 2, so I think this is the perfect formula I was looking for.

From 10 Dirt 2 friends only 4 of us have a steering wheel, and only 2 of us use Manual Transmision, so for most of my friends this game will be great.

And for all guys sayin' that they cannot use the "Dirt" name because is not a Dirt Game, you're right... Modern Warfare 3 doesn't deserve to be called "Modern Warfare" because is a piece of crap too, then. What about the last Jane's combat aircraft game? or the new Ridge Racer? Diablo III perhaps?

I actually play Dirt 2, got Dirt 3 but I haven't played it until I finish the other one, so... I don't like Codemasters to make a game yearly... is neither a Formula 1 game nor a FIFA game, so they put atention in the Demolition part, and I think is a good choice for all that are looking for fun smashing other guys.

My 2 cents.

At first I also thought Test Drive 2 was junk, but if you go into the options you can change the car handling. It has 3 settings I forget what the exact names are but there is some stupid Casual/Arcade one which is on by default, then Arcade, then Simulation.

The simulation setting is crap but the arcade setting handles just like Dirt 2 and it's a blast to drive around the open world with it, should try it out.

Really really bad comparions there.

Modern Warfare 3 is pretty much the same as Modern Warfare 2, plays no differently.

Diablo III is just like Diablo 2, top down dungeon crawler RPG.

I have no idea what Jane's combat is but Dirt Showdown is destruction derby which plays completely different to a rally racing game

It's more like comparing the original Syndicate to the new one, compeltely different games unlike the examples you gave which are very similar.
