Exact same problem, played it Friday afternoon for about 3 hrs, stopped to eat, came back later, started it and no cursor in menus. Have just validated cache file and defragmented it, so I'm going to try again now!

Unhappy "The connection to the game failed" message

Maybe someone here can help with this.

Playing coop.
For no reason the connection will just drop mid-game. Randomly while in game play and sometimes right at the very end when going into new map.
Internet connection works fine on both sides (me and player 2)
Steam works fine on both sides.
Game isn't actually crashing for either of us. It only disconnects me back to lobby with the following message:
"The connection to the game failed"

(Image of what I'm getting) ...also, the quality of this image does not reflect the quality I'm actually using in game. I only saved the image as a gif.

I've verified integrity of game cache.
I've run the 3 .exe (directx, dllcheck, vc)
Using Win 7

Thoughts? Help?

(yes, I know I have this posted in the general SEV2 thread...sorry, but I should have posted it in THIS thread to begin with)

They are aware of that issue and will fix in the incoming patch.

Thanks for the reply. I'll hold out 'til then.
I'm content with knowing they are aware of the issue.

Quit posting the same thing. Look in the topic you created, the last post there about editing the game's .INI file should do the trick for your issue.

Yea, a performance boost is well needed. I need to play everything on low, on the demo, to be totally lagg free.

And i'm using an Intel 2500k, 8gig ddr3, 1600mhz and an Radeon HD 7850 OC.

I should be able to run this game much higher than that without lag.

Well, this is pretty disappointing that it's going to be going on one week tomorrow since this games release and I'm still wondering why I can't play it. Like I said previously... I didn't sign up for a closed beta that's expected to be crappy. I paid full price for a broken product.

All I gotta say is they better throw some DLC content and MP maps our way soon, not to mention patch updates, and all for free; to make our $45 (or $50, whichever you paid) worth it. At the present time, this seems more like a $20 or $30 game at best. As it's short (even when u take your time), the maps are small and constrained, and COOP/MP maps are very few and leave alot to be desired.

While I'm not experiencing any annoying performance related issues, I just have to say this surely was not worth it's price. No way in hell.

Black Screen at Intro

Thought I'd post in here as well to see if I'd get more help.

So after going through these forums several times looking for a solution, verifying my game cache several times and reinstalling the game several times, it seems the game simply won't work.

Slightly different from what other people are experiencing:
On launching the game, I hear the intro videos however I see nothing but a black screen, and eventually my monitor shows the message "Check signal cable". I then have to force restart my computer as I can't alt tab, and sometimes unplug/replug my monitor.

As I've said I've tried everything including removing the intro files. This issue seems to be fixable on laptops but I've yet to see anyone with a normal PC have this issue. It's almost like the game doesn't recognise I have a graphics card.

What's even more amazing is the demo, which I uninstalled moments before installing the full game, worked perfectly. I've nearly had enough with this and may consider a refund if no one can help me here.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel Core i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz (4 CPUs)
8192MB RAM
DirectX 11
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 (4069 MB)

Have you tried pressing Alt+Enter when the game gets in to this state? Alternatively try adding -subwindow in the launch options.

I tried the -subwindow command. It seems it's something to do with the refresh rate the game is running in not being supported by my monitor (Samsung LCD - max 60hz). Is there a way to change the game refresh rate manually out of game?

EDIT: Just tried Refresh Rate Patcher to force my refresh rate to 60hz, which didn't work.

Has anyone else noticed that the headings in the mouse and keyboard control settings are a bit messed up and therefore rather confusing?

The headings are currently as follows

ACTIONS
INVENTORY
NAVIGATION
MULTIPLAYER
Accept
Accept

And it seems to me that they should be as below

MOVEMENT
COMBAT
ACTIONS
INVENTORY
NAVIGATION
MULTIPLAYER

I don't expect that anyone else has bothered posting about this, as it doesn't actually affect the playing of the game, but it would be nice if it was fixed in a patch with all of the more serious problems.

All Pretty Smooth Apart From...

I get a pretty smooth experience with ultra settings throughout the majority of the game with few complaints apart from when the enemy shoots back at me. It seems that this causes the frame rate to drop considerably and the game starts to stutter. This issue doesn't seem to happen at other times apart from brief stutter when there are checkpoints or enemies spawning.

The issue of the game running on a low cpu priority is a weird one which might be the culprit.. I am also trying the mentioned fix of 'unparking' my cpu cores...

My Specs:

Intel Core i7 2.2Ghz
8GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6970M
