Let us buy the expansion!

Seriously, Steam, I'm dying to pre-order Gods & Kings, just for the excitement of knowing I'll have it right on June 19th. Let me give you my money!

To everyone else: typically, when do these pre-orders go up? I feel like most pre-orders go up more than a month and 10 days before release date (as it is now).

Are we sure the expansion is completed and will be released in June?
I agree I am ready to pre-order.

Not all games coming to Steam get a pre-order.

Yup, we're positive.

Plus, it was originally scheduled to be released sometime in May, but it got pushed back (I assume) because Diablo 3's release date was announced as May 15.

I doubt it was pushed back because of Diablo 3, these 2 games don't really compete with each other. Also, direct link to the release date announcement - http://www.2kgames.com/blog/civiliza...leases-june-19

Just curious why the obsession with pre-orders?

It's impossible for steam to run out of copies (well I guess technically they could run out of keys but it's a steamworks game so that's *incredibly* unlikely) so how is it any different from just buying it the day it comes out? Or even better, waiting for a review to see if it's worthwhile (for example I'm not paying full price for G&K unless it really fixes the AI, same stupid worthless AI = wait for steam sale).

I don't mean to be insulting here, I'm just honestly curious. Why preorder, especially games that don't have any preorder bonus? It makes no sense to me.

Because there is always a chance of a pre-load.

With a title like this I can imagine the servers with everyone dowloading at the same time. Assuming the size of the expansion? I would imagine it will be a pretty big day one purchase for many.
