Make sure your local files are defragmented and verified: to do so, right click on the game, select "properties", go to "local files" tab and execute the two operations using the buttons "Verify integrity of game cache" and "Defragment game files". Also keep updated your video card drivers.
It's a generic suggestion though, do not expect miracles. Being TF2 updated quite often and it is somewhat prone to crash sometimes. Had similar problems once in a while, always resolved after a patch or two. |

Ok. Now lets just wait for it to download... if I delete the Team fortress in the Steam directory (The one inside the apps folder) will it have a negative effect? Cuz I did...

not sure what you have done so far, but yea, do what Kidofthecentury said or just delete the whole game and reinstall it. |

Hmmm, you reinstalled TF2 but did you try rebuilding the Steam installation?
Meaning deleting everything except the steamapps folder and Steam.exe? And then running Steam and letting it rebuild? And you mention that it started after a failed sync to the Steam Cloud. Perhaps something messed up and it uploaded a corrupted .cfg file? And now it's constantly re-downloading the screwed up config? Try disabling Steam Cloud for TF2 and then delete the old .cfg and let TF2 create a new one. If none of that works then I have no idea how to fix it. Maybe it's Windows related, i.e corrupted DirectX etc. Oh, and is it an ATI card? The 12.4 Catalyst drivers have major problems. Last edited by Hedy Lamarr: 06-26-2012 at 11:46 PM. |

No-no! I deleted the whole Steam folder, the Steamapps one and I even replaced the fodler itsself with a friend's one!
The Directx and C++ are perfectly fine. And yes - ATI card. |
