I can play the game for about 15-20 minutes before the screen goes black and my monitor states "No display". The sound is still playing for about 5 seconds before it starts to loop. I then have to manually restart my computer. Anyone have any solutions?
Specs: Windows XP Intel Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz Nvidia 8800GT 512MB 4GB of RAM x2 HDD 1- 320GB 2- 750GB |

Seems that after several hours of googling and trial and error I found the problem. I set everything to default and it ran fine. I then changed view distance to 200% leaving object distance at 100%. Roughly thirty seconds after changing the setting it crashed.
I then did some more googling and found that people were having the same issue when they increased the view distance, except theirs would lock up and they could still alt+ctrl+del out. So I figured I'd give the solution others had for them a shot. Well it seems to work so far, I hope. Here's the "solution": Change settings in the gothic.ini to: zTexCacheOutTimeMSec=960000 zTexCacheSizeMaxBytes=128000000 zSndCacheOutTimeMSec=40000 zSndCacheSizeMaxBytes=80000000 Turns out that if you have to much RAM it can cause the game to stutter and/or crash, so setting the value to match the amount of ram you got should solve crashing and stuttering. Pretty much says it in the ini too. :P "; ... with these settings you can tune the memory usage of the texture and sound resources. ; if you have more ram than 512 MB, greater values will improve performance" If I have any other issues I will be posting here, of course. Hopefully this will help others. Take care now... |

This helped me out, the game kept freezing for me within 10 minutes. I know this thread is old but I thought I'd say thanks anyway!
