That's what the fictional "Hollywood Audio Mode*" will be for.

* a feature that may or may not make it into the major 2012 release.

Are you asking when the update will be released? Not sure, but we're going to releasing something this year (2012).

I want to say first that I am fine with the game having no sound. I put on the radio and listen to whatever I want and I don't miss anything game-wise.

However if you are seriously considering adding some sound and are still debating on what to use, why not use those new space sounds that NASA has been recording?

It's some crazy science but to dumb it down NASA has been capturing electromagnetic pulses that are emitted from object through out the universe; mostly "local" objects. They use the vibrations caused by these particles to record the planet's "sound"

It would be interesting to implement these sounds into the game. They could be planet specific, (each planet having it's own unique sound as recorded by NASA. And as you zomed in on that planet you could hear it better.) Or it could just be a general back round noise always playing no matter what planet you are near.

Just a thought to mull over. Google it for better information on how they capture these sounds from space.

Holy smoke, I believe the fellow who posted about lens flare was being sarcastic. I sure hope so...

Please, please please, NO lens flare! I hope it's not too late to abort a lens flare effect before it gets started. Worst visual artefact ever. Just ultra-lame. You read the JJ Abrams interviews on the topic of Star Trek being too shiny, and it's clear he's embarrassed by the lens flare effect. I'm embarrassed by it 1,000 times more.

Yes. You will be able to turn sound off.

Same with lens flares, you'll be able to turn them off.
