Yeah, I liked the concept and on smaller or even really complicated cities it was useful to be able to control the amount of patients that, say, a certain hospital had over another one. But the option to just keep the funding on par with the number of patients automatically would be nice in some situations.

Save $5000 every month for 10 months, +$50,000

Spend $75000 in one month, to make $13,000 a month for 10 months. +$55,000

I just want the next Sim City game to be greatly optimized to run on my current PC. City Life and especially Cities XL runs horrible once the city get's big.

I'll keep my wishes simple:

-Not origin exclusive!!!!

-A real living simulation.(the new glass box engine looks very promising already)

-I want it to be absolutely nothing like societies or CitiesXL. They both sucked so badly! (I know maxis were not involved in either, I'm just saying)

-Terrain editing tools for creating my own regions like I do currently in SC4.

-Mod support(they have kept SC4 alive well past its days & deserve lots of credit & availability for the future)

-Zones zones zones!(which I already know is a guarantee )

That's it really. Please don't break my all time favourite series that I've been playing since the original was released in 1989.

I wholeheartedly agree with this ...
while I´m afraid that this wish doesn´t come true, unless Sim City 5 - sales on Origin are way below EAs expectations,
there still is a glimpse of hope that I am mistaken

I would like to see a better way to import maps. The current method is slow and without a progress bar, you have no idea if the operation hung or not. To render a rather large map for me, which is something like 50+ tiles of various sizes, takes roughly 30 - 45 minutes on a good day and I would like to believe that I have rather extraordinary computer specs that it shouldn't take this long. I would even go so far as to wish for map importing and rendering to be done outside of the game, so I can automatically queue up some maps and them be rendered overnight while I'm asleep instead of actively having to do it and not be able to do much else in the interim.

I'd also like to be able to pivot the map in a true 360 manner, much like Cities XL does. It makes it difficult to plan when there's only 4 views of the city.

More control over building styles and be able to dictate which building styles you want or don't want.

Diversity in buildings such as universities, hospitals, schools, and other major buildings like that.

More mass transit options to reflect real world options. Elevated Rails, Monorails, Trains, and Buses are not enough. Include options such as Light Rail, High Speed Rail, Trams, and even include ordinances such as carpooling incentives. Even the option for establishing Taxi companies in the game would be fantastic. H

More green energy options such as Geothermal and bringing back Hydroelectric dams. Also update on disposal such recycling and incineration (which is not nearly as polluting as it is in the game due to scrubbers and other technology).

And that's all I can think of at the moment. I'll edit when I get more ideas or think of anything else.

Lets see...

Road types...
Two track, absolutely no maintenance cost. Handles the least amount of traffic, as it is a single lane road for the most part.

Dirt road, A step up from two track it handles two lane traffic but is dusty and not very desirable to live on for middle and upper class people.

Gravel, better than dirt but not by much.

and of course all the rest seen from SC4 including the various rails.

Water transit, not just docks and marinas, but I also want to be able to dig out canals to accommodate boat travel, and maybe build lochs too to accommodate shipping from high altitude bodies of water to low altitude bodies of water and back, not to mention support for multiple height bodies of water(It would be truly awesome to recreate Niagara Falls...)

To add to zoning I would like to see two new types of zoning. in addition to landfill, residential, commercial, medium indusstry, heavy industry, and agraculture, I'd add "Entertainment"(Casino's might pop up in entertainment zones adding to your income even more if you have gaming legalized, but also draw in theme and amusement parks, or golf courses ect, depending on desirability factors.) and state(Can only build government buildings on it, though placing a ranger station on it basically makes it all one big park, which means you can put trails and such on it...)

Business deals/rewards
Aside from what we have had before in the previous games some others I would like to see in addition to what was in 4 would include...
Post office, Delivers packages. Makes transportation of goods more efficient and increases desirability for commercial buildings also nearby.
Airforce Base, functions similar to the army base, but has jets instead of tanks.
Naval base, Another army base of sorts, but with ships replacing helicopters and tanks.
Bank, loans money to your sims and stores their money... otherwise increases the income/demand for commercial buildings and possibly factories too.
Mineing/oil drilling, Collect taxes and fees from these jobs.(Sounds like this is already going to be in the new Sim City.)

I'd also be very keen to see greater variety in terms of building types.

One of the issues I have with SC3K is that you can choose an architectural style (I usually choose the Asian set), but I'm a bit limited in that I can't easily use bits and pieces from other sets as well. I doubt many people would want to do this, but being able to customise things in a bigger way would be handy.

Wait - there's a road type below a dirt road? Haha. Is that really necessary?

Dirt roads themselves become useless pretty quickly, I think. I wouldn't mind if we basically kept the same options as in SC4, but I would like to see much more sophisticated traffic control systems - ala Cities XL.

I'd love to see the ability to have waterfalls and more realistic water flow, for sure.

I don't mind the options for water travel in SC4, except that again, the control seems pretty limited. I want to do with ferries what you can do with buses in Cities XL - create routes and multiple stops. I want these things to be more than cosmetic; they should really affect the flow of people through the city.

Interesting ideas - I like the specific "entertainment" zone concept. This goes back a little bit to what I was saying earlier about being able to hold major events (like the Olympics) and the need to build multiple facilities, plan visitor movements, etc etc...

I wouldn't just want to create a zone though. I'd like to be able to do a bit of planning and design, especially because these entertainment zones would be showpieces for the city.

I kind of feel similar about government zones - what benefit to they really provide, unless the player is deliberately placing structures that have particular functions? Maybe a combination of the two approaches would work.

I like some of these ideas, especially if they are teased out a bit and if they were to look really cool.

I think my big thing overall is to have a more organic game, where the player has more control over how things look and behave. I mean, it would be great for the developers to "add more" - but I think a lot of the core changes are about more intelligent A.I. and a city that feels more dynamic and "alive".

That's why I'm kinda encouraged by the information we've seen about SC5 so far. I think they are heading in the right direction, generally.

I just hope that they expand upon the gameplay so that, even with these new behaviours, we aren't just building all the same stuff. I'd like to see more options and more customisation especially.

If not, it is going to be Spore all over again. But it'll be a good game that suffers!
