By "bots" I meant "accounts sending invites". And yes, seven of them have been disabled.

You can ban an account but they can still send invites, or at least they use to be able to.

That's not entirely true. I just tried, and once your account is disabled you cannot login either on the client or on the community.

However your last session data are still valid, which means you will not immediately be booted from the community website. That will only happen once your session expires on the Steam backend. In the meantime, it seems that you can still invite people to groups.

Which is how the bots work, they capture a session and keep it.

Sorry for bumping but I'm having the same problem today. I reported one of them and said this:

Quote:
This is the 5th account inviting me to random suspicious Steam groups today. I decline the invitation and block the user, but an hour later another account does the same thing. All of those accounts except one were created May 6, 2012 and have 0 friends. They also keep changing names.
Then I linked the profiles:

I don't know if they're all related to the same thing, but they all seem to be bots.

THey are continuing.

I received an invitation from Aziz Design (which is bascially self-promotiion, thus spam), and going to the page of the one who invited me (here) will show that it's still the Projet Nezyks bot.

Same thing yesterday, another group invite, with the same Projet Nezyks bot.

we need something, like bans of accounts, or a feature disabling the invitition to join a group, unless we have a least a friend there.

Edit: banning the bot account itsef isn't so usefull: it does stop the invitation for the moment, but the Projet Nezycks guys can easily create a new bot account.

Is it possible to close the groups benefitting from the bot, and banning the admin of the group?
