Hypothetical Question:
So, let's say that eventually all the stuff on that wish-list makes it into the editor; crushers, custom cores, high-energy pellets, co-op map support etc.
Only thing is... you have to pay for some of that. Would you do it? I would. I'd throw as much money as they wanted at them. I'd throw wads of bills directly at my screen. |

I don't think the high-energy pellet is even in Portal 2 at all, that's why the one early remake chamber used deadly lasers instead.
Edit: It's literally just the combine ball from HL2. Now if they did bring it in and add the cube that could hold it (as seen in some Portal 1 custom maps, I don't think it was official) that would be pretty awesome. |

The SDK is already free.
All those things are technically already there. I would not pay to gain access to those things in the already-free sdk OR the puzzle maker, Valve has already dedicated 'free' services. Cosmetic extras, things which absolutely have no bearing on how the game can be played or what happens in that game/map - things like hats - those they can charge for to their hearts content. I don't need and will never buy them. But they know better than to charge for the same things we've already got full access to already. In fact they go retro on that: TF2 going free to play for instance... |

Who would play for that when you can already do that with Hammer?
