Crops next to farms
I can't believe I can't just find an answer to this question, but it doesn't seem to be anywhere, even in the manual...
I notice that the crops don't appear to grow on the farm proper but rather on the land next to the farms. Is this purely aesthetic, or will I harm my farms' output by building on top of the crops? Kind of related: is it OK to cluster farms together, or should they be spaced out a bit? EDIT: I'm mainly asking about Tropico 4, but it'd be nice to know for other Tropico games as well, since I have all of them. Last edited by furrykef: 05-17-2012 at 05:24 PM. |

The crops grow around the farm. The next question is where it gets hazey: do you place the farms directly on the green area or right next to the green area?. Personally i try and pick a patch thats not green and place the farm striaght on top and have the green all around.
You can place farms right next to eachother but i wouldn't imagine that would yeld the most crops and if a Tornado/twister hit that area you would lose a lot in one go or thats what you think would happen but the tonadoes do tend to be picky on what they pick up. I space mine out for another reason too and thats pollotion, farms give out a lot of pollotion so unless you can manage that pollotion in one area. Thats the joy of Tropico series, try and see or set yourself a challenge. Last edited by Arnagast: 05-17-2012 at 06:22 AM. |

You place it so that you don't waste better pastures (where possible). easy ![]() Quote:
The trick is not putting the rows too close (if you're using rows), and to back-to-back the middle row if you know what you're doing/have the space.
