Best advice I can give is to go to UK Train Sim.com, pay their $3 fee, and download to your heart's content.

I personally don't run a lot of UK routes so can't recommend any specific route. I'm sure someone else will chime in, tho.

Yes there are loads of freeware routes on UKTS,some real, some fictional. I don't know where to begin, there are so many. The latest was The Mayflower Line which is Harwich area and has some nice scenarios, some need payware.Personally I play a lot on the steam era line Settle-Carlisle (not to be confused with the payware route from RSC).
I'm sure others will give their opinions.

As Rob says get the full version of Rw Tools and read how to set it up. It's really important if you want to install routes and scenarios to check for missing assets and other things

Dude. Last time I checked the Allegheny mountains were on this side of the pond, not your side.
It is, however, a really great route. Need the Big Boy and Challenger, tho.

UKTS do not accept PayPal since it is not a bank and not regulated by the FSA. Banking facilities are via Worldpay or if you contact the support email - support@atomic-systems.com you can get the details do a direct internet bank transfer.

I wanted to pay subscription to UKTS but as they didn't quote anything about using debit cards with Worldpay in the instructions to pay, I sent a message to support asking them to verify that I could use a debit card because there was no mention except for credit cards. Of course it did state that debit cards would be accepted but didn't state this when applying through Worldpay. I'm still waiting for a reply.
