Steam support wont help...

So i have created this account since i dont want my main account to get in troubble.

So 2 weeks ago i recieved a VAC ban in Modern Warfare 2. And if any one say anything along the road of me cheating or hacking, ill just let you know that i will ignore you since that is not the case.

First message i send was simply just some information about what ive been doing in the game the past month i CLEARLY told him that no hack/cheat/mod was involved, when i was done with my long and painfull letter i send it to steam support and started waiting. a day later i got what looked like a very scripted message ill quote:
Quote:
Hello *my name*,

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

Our system indicates that this account has been permanently banned by the Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) from Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer for use of cheats or other unauthorized modifications to the game (such as a console unlocker, etc.).

We will not disclose the cheats which were detected, nor will we provide the date and time the infraction took place. We have confirmed that the ban on the account was applied legitimately and it cannot be removed.

This ban does not affect other titles on the account.

The account may still be used to play the single-player campaign and Spec Ops missions.

We cannot move game subscriptions from accounts which have been banned by VAC.

If you choose to purchase a new copy of this game, please create a new Steam account to register the game to. Remove all cheats from your system before you install (if you do not know where the cheats were installed, you may want to consider reformatting the machine and starting over with a new installation of your operating system).

For more information on Valve's policies, please see the Steam Subscriber Agreement and the Rules of Steam Online Conduct:

And how exactly does this help me? i read the text in the 3 links, and i did not spot anything that ive done wrong. i told him that the issue was not anything that ive done wrong, in terms of Agreements and VAC. now its been a week and no answer yet. If any moderator can help me find a supporter that wants to HELP/run a conversation and not just copy-paste some text, that would be great. And now i am sure some users might tell me that this does not belong is a userforum, but were else do you want me to go? They wont answer you on the support page when i have problems, so this is the only place

They checked your account and found that somebody used a cheat with it. They won't tell you what cheat and when, so cheaters won't know what exactly is detectable and what not.

If you didn't use cheat, it was probably somebody with access to your PC/account. Was your account stolen in last 2 months?

VAC detects actual cheat code running on your computer and flags it for a ban. There is no guesswork involved...it either detects exact code or it does not.

VAC only adds you to a list. It is up to server owners to decide if they want to use that list to remove cheaters from their servers by running VAC secured servers. You have never had a right to play on other people's servers as they pay for them and can do anything they want with them, so there is no argument you can make to claim your rights have been violated.

Hello,

Your main forum account (starts with a P) is not at any risk simply by being VAC banned. However, creating multiple accounts is a violation of the forum rules. Please stick to one account.

VAC has detected that your game was modified in a way that is considered a cheat, specifically by a piece of software known as MW2 Liberation (goes by several other names as well). I have verified that the infraction and resulting ban on the account are legitimate. As its previously been stated, the ban will not be removed.

Your understanding in this matter is appreciated.

Why would you feel the need to do this?
Read the info in the link provided by TeKraken post.

You would think after all this time people would stop using that program since its so widely known to cause issues.

You'd hope after all the bans that people would just stop cheating full stop!
(EDIT: I know MW2Liberation isn't STRICTLY 'cheating' but it falls under the VAC banner)

wow... i never seen so much ownage on steam forums before. i'm guessing that he thought the hack he used was supposedly VAC undetectable, so he didn't think he would get caught.

how embarassing.

vac could be wrong sometimes, i mean how do we know that they are not just banning it for the sake of making more money, they are a business and money makes the world go round.

Yeah, sure. Banning random people will give Valve lodsa money.
It's not like people will start running away and stop buying games if that happened.
Please, take a moment to just think about what you said, and you'll see it makes no sense. I believe you put your tinfoil hat too tight this morning.

im just saying vac isnt always 100% correct on the bans.
maybe just sometimes they need to review some customers submissions and appeals instead of replying to every customer with the same banning template.
my thoughts are all around money these days with big corporations paying these useless monkeys sitting behind monitors wearing silly hats. ;-)

I don't understand how they would make more money. Do you think people would re-buy games after getting unfairly banned? I don't cheat and if I got VAC banned (and Valve refused to reverse it) there is no way I would buy the game again. Not only that but my overall Steam purchases would drop significantly, if not cease altogether.

Banning cheaters is a good business move because legitimate players generally don't like cheaters and most of the playerbase are legitimate players but banning innocent players is surely a very bad business decision.

It pretty much is 100% accurate. Wrongful bannings are so rare that they are barely worth discussing. And there isn't much to review, code that exactly matches a known cheat was found to be running while they were playing on a VAC secured server. This is basically the equivalent of finding them standing over a dead body with a smoking gun in their hand with video footage of them killing the person and multiple witnesses all testifying the same.

And had you read the threads that you are bringing up, you would find all this information and wouldn't even need to bump a nearly ten month old thread.
