I'm getting the same error. I tried to follow this:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...d.php?t=867554 But it still presents the error even though I've deleted all files called bass.dll that were on my computer. |

I found a solution that worked for me:
-Go into C:/Windows/SysWOW64 -There should be a single file called bass.dll -Remove it -Start the game The game worked fine for me after that. I hope this helps some people. |

After downloading and installing I got this error and thought it was strange seeing as how I can run any game on my PC. So after some searching I found this thread and saw your fix and thought I would give it a try, sure enough the game started without any issues. Thanks for the info! One question though, I made a backup of the bass.dll just in case but is it safe to delete it? Or is it needed for any other program? |

I don't know what program uses bass.dll outside of PopCap games, but if it's in the system folder, something put it there. It probably won't affect anything except the program that put it there, even that's only a possibility. Since I don't know what program that is, I can't tell you for sure. I deleted the file myself, and never had a problem.
Out of curiosity (due to the bass.dll issue), do you have any Big Fish Games products installed? Edit: This is one program that uses a file called bass.dll: http://www.un4seen.com/ Edit: From their forums, possibly another clue: http://www.un4seen.com/forum/?topic=4228.0 It seems Popcap games were designed using an older version of this group's bass.dll file for their games, and newer versions removed some of the features... Edit edit: This is a list of software that uses bass.dll. http://www.un4seen.com/bass_showcase.php I think my problem occurred because I am using CDBurnerXP on one of my computers. The only Big Fish game I have is Garden Defense but it's backed up on an external and plays fine from it so I think it's safe to delete the file. Thanks for your help. |

The reason I asked was I thought I noticed some Big Fish games using bass.dll. But the other stuff I found cleared it up a bit anyway.
