Can someone please explain challenge mode?

It says beat the target combo and target time to get 5 stars. Sometimes I beat both, yet I get less than 5 stars - what do you have to do to get all 5?

Also, is there any way to know what the target is before the end of the round?

I get asked this a lot so here we go:

You have to significantly beat the target time and combo.

That translates into getting 50% more than the target combo and completing it in less than 75% of the target time.

So if the target combo is 50 you need to get a combo of 75 or more and if the target time is 60 seconds you need to beat it in 45 seconds.

It is doable on all of the challenges as I have done it myself and I'm not even that good at my own game as it turns out...

Great. Thanks. Vague and waffling instructions are pretty much the only flaw of this game, which is overall a shining example of excellent game design.
