How to disable Steam Comment Notifications?

It's annoying the hell out of me. Every new comment on some guy's profile gives me a notification.

Try turning off notifications at
Steam>Settings>Friends
Then tick off "Display a notification"

I'd like that as well, frankly my friends do a lot of things that I really couldn't possibly care less about.
I don't need to be informed every time they do anything at all. If their interacting with me on my profile, definitely notify me but otherwise I can do without it.

It's even worse when you're constantly notified about someone who isn't even a friend, and whom you have no idea nor interest in whom they are.
I commented on one picture of his months ago... this does not mean I need to be notified about every single thing he has ever done, and every person he ever interacts with.

I've been going back and deleting all of my past comments everywhere as it appears to be the only way to slow down the constant barrage of irrelevant notifications about people I've never heard of.

I'm hopeful I won't have to remove everyone off my friends list because I honestly like the social aspects of Steam...it's a major aspect of why I like the service but I like them unobtrusive, not constantly in my face.
And certainly not about things that have nothing whatsoever do with me.

It's annoying, yes, but give Valve some time.
The comment notification system has been added just recently, so it's quite obvious that it isn't perfect, yet.

With stuff like this it's usually like: Getting an idea for something, building it based on the idea, release it to the masses, wait for the feedback (or, since where on SPUF: wait for the whine ) , adjust this something based on the feedback, everyone is happy. When they changed the looks of the comments on the user profiles, people were outraged by the large font size, a bit later it got adjusted by Valve.

They're probably already well aware that the current system, without any possibility to opt-out for certain notifications, can be a pain for some users, but I would guess they're already working on something to fix this and allow for more customization.

It's kinda like how Facebook notifications work. When you comment on someone's profile or screenshot or video you'll get notifications for like the next four or five comments made, then the notifications will stop. If you comment a lot on Community then you'll probably be receiving lots of notifications.

basically Steam wants you to live and breath in their community network and leave FB for good...

I'm also annoyed by this. Traded with some guy I don't even know, left feedback, and now I'm being notified whenever anyone else leaves him trade feedback. I don't care about all future trades of a guy I traded with once and will probably never talk to again.

This. Exactly this. It's annoying as Hell and I can't even access trading forums anymore since I didn't (and I won't) link my profile. Yet, I keep receiving those Facebook notifications. I wish we could turn if off

There should be 3 settings to toggle about comments:

1. Notify all new comments
2. Notify all friend comments
3. Notify only comments to you

No, but I haven't noticed any new notifications coming in. They may have made a change to the functionality.
